Episode Three:

Scene 1: The staff are all present in the living room, but are feeling dejected. Their first guest has fled in panic, which doesn't bode well. Reggie tries to cheer them all up by reading out some of their newspaper advertisements that have recently appeared in the press. Many of them were clever play-on-words, and one was by C.J. Reggie decides to personally interview all applicants that will arrive as a result of the media saturation, and asks the secretary - Elizabeth - if the guestlist of one has increased. It has doubled: two.

.
Scene 2: Reggie is in his office, and calls for Elizabeth to send in the first of the new guests. Reggie's old boss Mr. Pelham enters, and they are both very pleased to see each other. Mr. Pelham, the pig farmer, has expanded his livestock business, but has gone off meat. Reggie tries to look professional by writing on a piece of paper at his desk, but conceals it from Mr. Pelham. When Mr. Pelham is not looking, Reggie screws up the piece of paper and throws it on the floor. Reggie tells him that Mr. Pelham's problems will no longer exist after a brief stay at Perrins, and Mr. Pelham thanks him. Reggie then asks for the second guest. A large-built, forthright man enters and sits down before he is asked. Thruxton Appleby is a textile tycoon - his problem is that he is not liked. He expects money to carry all before him, and has been ruthless with his employees. Reggie decides to be as rude as he is, insulting him about being a smoker, a drinker and being thick. He writes 'nosy swine' on a piece of paper and gets up to leave. Thruxton Appleby picks it up and reads it, thus confirming what is written there. Reggie meets C.J. who is out in the corridor, and asks him to help him deflate the windbag in his office. C.J. enters Reggie's office and asks him if he has heard the weather forecast. Reggie rings for it, then introduces C.J. to Mr. Appleby by the wrong name. Thruxton tries to correct him, but fails. Reggie convinces Thruxton that he can be cured, and the tycoon leaves the office.

Link: Reggie visits his staff to see how they are getting on. McBlane is in a bad mood. Tom has reverted to brewing his home-made wine, and Tony has decorated his hut with pictures of Page Three topless ladies. Reggie is angry at them both and tells them to buck their ideas up - or else.
.
Scene 3: The staff are again in the living room, and are still discouraged. Linda and Tom argue, as do Joan and Tony. Even the Harris-Joneses have a disagreement. C.J. complains about having to listen to married people arguing, and Reggie calls everyone to order. He blames himself for the depression, by taking a dominant role, and tells the staff that he will only hold a watching brief from now on.
..
Scene 4: Reggie is visiting the various areas of the community. Linda is sitting for Mr. Pelham to paint her portrait, but the farmer has painted a floppy-eared, curly-tailed pig instead. In the crafts shed, Thruxton Appleby is shouting at Prue for being instructed wrongly on how to make a barrel. Prue fills it with water and it seeps out through holes. He goes to visit McBlane the chef, and casually broaches the subject of last night's curry being too hot. McBlane starts to sharpen his carving knives, and Reggie leaves the kitchen. Next, Reggie catches up with Jimmy who is leading his troops regimentally around the estate. He visits Joan in the music room, where there is a cacophony of noise, disguised as the singing voices of Thruxton Appleby, Mr. Pelham and housewife Hilary Meadows. Reggie tells them, through clenched teeth, to keep up the good work, and leaves quickly. He sits in on one of Doc Morrissey's word association sessions. On the couch is Bernard Trilling, head of Anaemia Television. He has lost his sense of humour. Bernard replies to every word by saying 'comedy', as all he ever thinks about is making a successful sitcom. He then walks in on Hilary Meadows being briefed, very slowly and falteringly, by David Harris-Jones. Reggie tries to take up the reigns in talking frankly about sex, but becomes tongue-tied himself, and leaves. He then returns to his office, where C.J. is holding a role-playing session in industrial negotiations. Arthur Noblet, an arc welder, is being the boss instead of the worker, and Thruxton Appleby, the textiles tycoon, is being the worker. C.J. is playing the secretary Cynthia Jones. After many failed attempts to make the worker become more domineering and the tycoon subserviant, Reggie and C.J. decide to demonstrate the negotiation exercise themselves, resulting in a slanging match across the desk. Scene 5: Later that day, Reggie is back in his office, when Thruxton Appleby knocks and enters. He is leaving, cured, and writes Reggie a cheque. After Thruxton leaves, Reggie looks at the cheque in amazement.
Scene 6: The staff are being briefed by Reggie in the living room. He tells them that Thruxton Appleby has left them £1,000, and Mr. Pelham has left them a year's supply of pork chops. The number of guests is increasing daily, and Reggie decides to take a more dominating role once more.
